■「カフェバグダッド」とは■
「カフェバグダッド」は、中東、特にアラブ世界の奥深い文化を日本に紹介する目的で、２００４年５月に設立された任意の民間活動団体です。人々が集い、語らうカフェは、世界のどこの国でも、人々の文化活動の拠点です。アラブで、マクハーあるいはカフワと呼ばれるカフェも例外ではありません。「カフェバグダッド」という名の仮想のアラブ式カフェを出現させ、そこで行うアラブの音楽、文学、映画などの文化芸術についての語らいなどを通じ、表層的ではなく地に足のついたアラブ理解を積み上げていきたいと考えています。そのことが、「テロ」「イスラム過激派」「民族・宗派間紛争」といった言葉で紋切り型に語られがちなアラブ世界の実像を正しく理解し、ひいてはアラブ世界とよりよい関係を築くことにつながっていくと考えるからです。
このプロジェクトの着想を得たのは、イラク戦争直後のイラク首都バグダッドのカフェでのこと。「カフェバグダッド」という名には、イラクの気高きカフェ文化への敬意がこめられています。
いつも素敵な写真と目からうろこの話題盛りだくさんで楽しみにしていいます。今月も宜しくお願いします。

そうなんですよね。マスコミ報道なんかもしかり。カフェバグダッド立ち上げの
動機のひとつはその辺にあったんです。

ほうがベターなのでしょうが、そうなると、なかなかおおごとに

この前お客様に初めて水パイプみせていただきました
中近東の方は素晴らしい発想でタバコを楽しまれるんだなと
言うのが第一印象
構造的には単純そのものなので簡単に作れそうだなと第二印象
で、身近にあるペットボトルとストロー２本、タバコのフィルターで
試作して味わってみました
タバコは吸わないのでヘビースモーカーのお客さんに吸ってもらったら
「軽いな」とコメントをいただきました
と、いうことは、水パイプの発明者はヘビースモーカーだったのでしょうか？

自作の水タバコとはすごいですね。
中東産の水タバコ器具の中には、つくりの粗い
ものも多く、蒲田あたりの町工場に作ってもらったら、
もっとすばらしいのができるだろうと思ったりもします。
